SENATOR DAN BLUE HOSTS TOWN HALL MEETING FOR WAKE FOREST AND ROLESVILLE Senator Dan Blue is hosting a town hall meeting from 6:30 pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, February 11 at the Northern Regional Center. Senator Blue encourages members of the local community to attend and engage in a conversation on the goals and priorities of the state government in 2010. "Although we do not go back into formal session until May, it is important that we get to work now on solving the challenges facing North Carolina,” said Blue. “Creating jobs and lowering the unemployment rate continues to be my top priority, and is unequivocally the most pressing need across our district. However, as we move forward we must not lose focus of our other goals, such as working to create the top public education system in the nation, providing affordable and accessible health care and cracking down on gangs, drugs, and violence within our communities." Blue knows that Wake County parents and teachers have many concerns as we move into 2010 and hopes to hear from each of them along with others to help shape policy for our State. The State Legislature has worked hard to ensure that public education is a top priority and Senator Blue will continue that tradition and fight for what is best for the children of Wake County. Senator Blue currently serves on the following committees: Appropriations/Base Budget, Appropriations on Education/Higher Education, Commerce, Finance, Judiciary, Rules, and Ways and Means. The event will be at the Northern Regional Center at 350 Holding Street in Wake Forest and is open to all.

This is an opportunity for those who were volunteers, supporters and voters for President Obama to become involved locally to move our agenda forward. Join local activists for an interactive discussion with Organizing for America state leadership about our plans for the upcoming year. Learn about how you can become involved with our efforts supporting candidates at the local and statewide level. I know that you are fired up and ready now let's get to work and finish the job. President Obama's election was only the opportunity to make change, we each owe it to ourselves and our children to do our part to affect change. We've seen locally and nationally what can happen when we are complacent.
