Jeffrey G. Marsocci has been appointed to oversee the party’s 2008 Get Out The Vote efforts

The Wake County Democratic Party is pleased to announce that Jeffrey G. Marsocci has been appointed to oversee the party’s 2008 Get Out The Vote efforts. Mr. Marsocci brings first-hand experience to the table as the Precinct Organization Committee chair during the 2004 election, as Director of the NC Training Committee, and as the head of the precinct “war room” on Election Day 2004 where he oversaw more than 600 volunteers.

During the 2004 election, the party’s efforts helped Democrats in Wake County win 22 out of 28 partisan races, increased the number of Democratic judges elected, and boosted the county margin of victory for all three congressional officials. In addition, Wake County also saw a 44,000 net vote gain by U.S. Senate candidate Erskine Bowles over Richard Burr in 2004 versus Bowles’ race in 2002 against Elizabeth Dole.

“In 2004 we utilized a simple and clear strategy where the county party delivered candidate literature and sample ballots to voter households, and the party also provided information and yard signs at the polling places on Election Day,” Marsocci said. “By doing so, we were able to free up resources for the various campaigns so they could reach out to the specific voters they needed in the critical weeks before the Election. This year, I believe we can work just as closely with the candidates as in 2004, and I also believe we can achieve even greater local and state victories while taking back the White House.”

The 2008 GOTV Committee will be meeting in the near future to review the GOTV strategy and begin the volunteer recruitment process.
