Ms. Abeni Sala Titilayo El-Amin is currently an instructor at North Carolina State University in the SPACE Academy. She is a Qualified Professional with Omega Independent Living Services and contracts health and fitness training, consultation, and public speaking through her business Aerobicsinc.

She has taught political science at St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Mercer University in Macon, GA and Savannah State University and is currently an ABD of political science at Clark Atlanta University (CAU). Her research areas are American Government, African Politics and Government, Comparative Politics and Public Administration. Her overarching research interests are in the areas of Workforce/Community Development and Service-Learning/Civic Engagement.

Abeni has received an Associates degree from the Whitney M. Young Honors Program in Liberal Studies from Kentucky State University (KSU). She also holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Economics. She obtained her Masters degrees from KSU in Public Administration – Human Resource Management and Management Information Systems.

Abeni has worked with several governmental agencies from local to federal. She has been a fellow with the CAU/HUD Neighborhood Initiatives Program (NIP) working with women transitioning from welfare to work. She has worked in the Lexington, Kentucky Human Rights Commission, State of Kentucky Governor’s Office, and The Social Security Administration. In addition to working in the public sector, she has also worked in the private sector for Lexmark International and Sara Lee Corporation.

Presently, Abeni serves on the Raleigh MLK committee, she is secretary of the Raleigh Community Council, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, she sits on the board of Healthy Mothers-Healthy Babies, The Raleigh Human Relations Commission, The Raleigh-Wake County Voters Association, she serves as secretary of the Raleigh-Apex chapter of the NAACP, she sits on the executive board of The Young Democrats Club and serves as 2nd Vice-chair for Wake County Democrats.
