Communications

On Saturday, May 21, 2005, 25 Wake County delegates attended the District 4 Convention in Durham, meeting with other Democrats from Chatham, Durham, and Orange Counties. New District Officers were elected:

Chair: T. E. Austin (Durham County)

1st Vice Chair: Tina Morris Anderson (Wake County)

2nd Vice Chair: Paul Falduto (Orange County)

3rd Vice Chair: Casey Mann (Wake County)

Secretary: Tracy Lovett (Durham County)

Treasurer: Lenore Guidoni (Chatham County)

The majority of the 5 hour meeting was spent in debating resolutions to pass on to the NC Democratic Party. While several resolutions were tabled for further discussion, the vast majority passed, either as originally written or as amended. Several resolutions were adopted from the floor during the convention. The full list of resolutions will be available shortly.

We will be discussing the many different roles and functions of the communcations committtee including:

• creating a weekly newsletter,
• developing a letter to the editor campaign,
• writing and disseminating brochures
• putting together "festival kits"
