Wake Progressive Democrats' August meeting this Saturday, August 20th, at the NCATL building located at 1312 Annapolis. I am happy to announce we are going to meet at 6:00pmand have a potluck dinner! So many of you have requested trying something different (aka anything other than Saturday morning) and so the Executive Committee figured we would try an evening meeting...and some good home cooking! Please RSVP and let me know what you intend to bring, so I can fill any holes in our dinner lineup. Joining us (I hope) will be newly elected PDNC president, Mac Whatley. Mac has some other meetings in town and hopes to break away and join us for part of the evening. Help give NC Democrats a ‘base-lift’!

On Tuesday, September 13th, Democrats across the State will gather at over 200 homes for house parties. Be a part of this, by opening your home so that Democrats in your community can join this incredible grassroots movement.

We know the power that comes through a strong grassroots movement. This is your opportunity to help bring Democrats together!

Each Democrat attending a House Party is recommended to bring a donation of $15. This contribution will help the State Party prepare for the 2005 and 2006 elections, by building local parties and recruiting an army of trained volunteers ready to go to work.

Because of the success of our potluck last month, I am happy to announce we will do it again! The Wake Progressive Dems will meet this Saturday at the NC Academy of Trial Lawyers, 1312 Annapolis Dr, Raleigh from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Please bring a dish, dessert, or beverage to share! And please RSVP!

There is a great deal happening this week, from Cindy Sheehan in town to candidate forums to the kickoff canvass of the Wake Democrats. I hope that each of you has a chance to participate in one if not all of these events this week. If not, don't worry, we'll recap at the meeting and let you know how it is you can help moving forward.

This meeting will not be just discussion either! We plan to have several activities to choose from to help you get to 5 in '05! We are asking all of our members and supporters to give 5 hours to progressive candidates running for office in Wake County elections (one of which is a member: Mike Gould, who is running for school board). They need your support just as we need their victory, so come Saturday and help your progressive candidates.

Sunday, September 18, 2005
Start: 3:00 pm

Orange County member and former Chapel Hill Town Council member Joe Herzenberg will chair the meeting. The agenda includes possible endorsements for upcoming elections, participation in Gay Pride events on September 24, and finding volunteers to serve as representatives in each of the three Triangle counties.

Please try to attend this important meeting. We need the participation and contribution of everyone to make the Triangel Stonewall Democrats an effective and positive organization.
