The Wake County Democratic Party is truly a Party of the people. Our accomplishments are only made possible through the enthusiastic support of people all across our community. From 9 to 95 and from all walks of life, we come together with the common goal of electing Democratic public officials who represent our values. Nothing is more powerful than concerned citizens voicing their hopes and ideals; nothing persuades and educates like friends and neighbors. We need you. We need your time, your financial support, your willingness to understand important issues, and, of course, your vote. Follow the links below to join us:

A Message from Keith Karlsson, WCDP Chair

2005 — Successes to Celebrate

With your help, the Wake County Democratic Party was able to:
Hire a full-time Executive Director
Launch the finest political website in the state
Publish our first-ever Party brochure
Recruit and train candidates for municipal office
Provide a wide range of campaign support including hosting candidate websites
Run strong Get Out The Vote efforts for both the October and November elections
− our volunteers knocked on 3,500 doors
− our volunteers personally called 5,200 voters
− we mailed over 35,000 pieces of candidate information to voters
− we called 80,000 Democratic households to remind them to vote

As a result of our efforts, 2005 was a great year for Wake County:
Two Democrats were elected to the Wake County School Board, producing a 5-4 majority
Raleigh’s Mayor and four Democrats were re-elected to the City Council, and a sixth Democrat was elected, giving a 6-2 majority
The incumbent Democrat was re-elected to the Cary Town Council
Democratic Mayors were re-elected in Fuquay-Varina and Zebulon, and a Democratic Mayor was elected in Garner
Democrats were elected to town councils across Wake County

2006 — A Vision for the Future

With hard work and smart campaigning, 2006 will be the year we send a resounding message across Wake County and all the way to the White House that Americans have had enough. We can:
Take back a majority on the Wake County Board of Commissioners
Elect a Democratic Sheriff
Retire Russell Capps and the other out-of-touch Republicans in Wake County’s legislative delegation
Keep our three Democratic congressmen in Washington
Elect good Democratic judges at all levels.

In 2006 we need your help to:
Organize all of our precincts
Strengthen our regional groups
Carry out a Democratic census
Attract more Republicans and Unaffiliated voters to the Democratic Party

Aren't you tired of the Republican agenda of corruption, financial irresponsibility, and disregard for human rights and civil liberties?

Please send your contribution now to the Wake County Democratic Party. Your contribution of $500, $250 or $100 will help us organize to win big in November. Join the Wake County Democratic Party in making 2006 a breakthrough year where Democrats take back Wake County!

"Good Night, Good Luck" Movie

News | Progressive Democrats | Get Active
Nov 5 2005 - 10:30am

The Wake County Progressive
Democrats proudly invite the public to a special screening of “Good Night, Good
Luck” to be held in the Rialto Theater on Saturday, November 5th at 11:30am.
The film dramatically relives Edward R. Murrow's legendary on-air
confrontations with Senator Joseph McCarthy and the opposition he and his colleagues
faced along the way. The cost of admission will be $10 with proceeds to support
progressive candidates and causes that affect Wake
County.

The Wake County Progressive
Democrats believe in the absolute necessity for an uncensored and accountable
press. We feel that especially since September 11th, our nation’s
mainstream press has suffered from internal censorship by their corporate
owners, a lack of journalistic courage, or both. As part of our goal to promote
progressive ideas, we feel an obligation to remind our fellow citizens of this
nation’s history with political censorship and the importance of speaking truth
to power.

Film info can be found at http://wip.warnerbros.com/goodnightgoodluck. For more information on this event, please
contact PJ Puryear, President of the Wake County Progressive Democrats at (919) 412-5920.
