Democratic Women

The next luncheon of Democratic Women of Wake County will be held March 29th at the University Club of NCSU on Hillsborough St. in Raleigh. The cost is $13.00 per person and the lunch line opens at 11:30 am. The meeting will be called to order by President Betsy Watson at noon.

She will preside over the election of officers for the 2007-2009 term. Since no nominations were made from the floor in February, those to be elected are:

2nd VP Mary Starkey (arrangements)
3rd VP Joanne Casey (programs)
Treasurer Mary Colombo
Asst. Treasurer Elizabeth Hansen
Recording Secretary Margie Maddox
Asst. Recor. Sec. Rosemarie Downie
Corresponding Sec. Christy Terrell
Historian Wanda Schrader.

The board will be completed by committee chairs who are appointed by the president.

The speaker at the March luncheon is still to be announced.

There is no regular luncheon meeting in April as the club will host the annual Jefferson Jackson Day (JJ) breakfast on April 23rd. This is always a big fund-raising event for Democratic Women with Dems from across the state attending. This year's Chair Rachel Eagles and her committee have planned a stellar event to be held at the North Raleigh Hilton.

The Hilton is the headquarters hotel for other JJ events, including a dinner Saturday evening. Out-of-town attendees usually stay at the headquarters hotel and go to many receptions and other events during the weekend. For more information about the weekend see the home page of this web site.
