WCDP’s 45th Annual Valentine’s Celebration
for the love of democracy
Event Details
We can’t wait to see you at our 45th Annual Valentine’s Celebration! We’ll celebrate our 2025 Awardees (Sweethearts, Mentors, and Rising Stars) and hear from WCDP leadership before welcoming Professor Nichol for remarks.
Doors will open at 6:00pm for drinks and socializing, and the dinner buffet line will open at 6:30p. We’ll have a staffed photo booth and couple’s games to play for prizes before beginning our program.
Attire for the evening is business/cocktail. Tickets include dinner, two drink tickets, and entry for door prizes.
If you have any questions, please contact us at info@wakedems.org. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Guest Speaker
Professor Gene Nichol
Gene Nichol has dedicated his career to defending civil rights, strengthening democracy, and exposing systemic inequalities in North Carolina and beyond. As a professor at the UNC School of Law and former president of the College of William & Mary, he brings a wealth of knowledge and an unflinching commitment to justice.
If you’ve ever heard him speak, you know he doesn’t hold back. Passionate, sharp, and unreserved, he cuts straight to the heart of the challenges we face, including attacks on our democracy, deepening inequality, and the erosion of the rule of law.
His words don’t just inform; they ignite action.
This is a can’t-miss opportunity to hear from one of our state’s most fearless voices for progress. Come ready to be inspired, challenged, and fired up for the work ahead!
Note: Due to an unexpected scheduling conflict, Attorney General Jeff Jackson can no longer attend the event.
