WCDP is hiring a full-time Organizing Director who will advance both short-term priorities and long-term strategic plans for Wake Dems through the 2023 and 2024 elections and beyond.

The Organizing Director is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of strategic field plans, bolstering WCDP’s organizational structure, and managing the day-to-day organizing activities of the Party. The Organizing Director reports directly to the Executive Director and works in close collaboration with the County Executive Council in executing their duties and the day-to-day operations of the Party.

Who is WCDP?

The Wake County Democratic Party is a grassroots organization with the goal of electing Democrats who share our values. We fight to ensure Wake County residents and all North Carolinians have a fair shot at a good life, regardless of their background, where they came from, what they’re worth, or who they love.

Our Philosophy

Wake County Democrats believe EVERY person has inherent value, is worthy of the right to thrive, and deserves a voice in all levels of government. We empower people to organize in their local communities. We fight for voters’ rights to participate and choose their elected officials. We stand for accessible healthcare and bodily autonomy. We value high-quality public education. Wake County Democrats condemn and defy hate or discrimination against marginalized people in any form.

What We Do

  • We help communities organize and build power to advocate for their needs.
  • We help our neighbors get to the polls by providing accurate and timely information about elections and candidates.
  • We advocate for candidates and policies that align with our values and serve the needs of ALL Wake County residents.

Our Leaders

WCDP is led by the Executive Council, which includes the Chair, four Vice Chairs, four Regional Vice Chairs, the Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Director. The Executive Council is elected at the county convention and serves 2-year terms. We also have a number of committees to support our work.

Precincts and Areas

The precinct is building block of the Democratic Party. Wake County has 212 precincts in 23 areas. There are four Regional Vice Chairs who serve on the executive committee: Apex, Cary/Morrisville, Raleigh, and Wake.

North Carolina Democratic Party

WCDP is part of the North Carolina Democratic Party, so we send representatives to the State Executive Committee and State Convention. We also coordinate with the organizations representing Congressional Districts 2 and 13.

Plan of Organization

The North Carolina Democratic Party governs WCDP through the state-wide Plan of Organization. We use an Alternative Plan of Organization to meet our County’s specific needs.
