County Executive Committee Meeting – Tuesday, December 5, 2023

Election Results:

During the 12/05/23 meeting, the Wake CEC nominated Tara Waters to fill the vacant Wake County Board of Commissioners seat in District 5.

Per our adopted special rules, should an alternate nominee be needed, that nominee will be the second place candidate, Jessica Day. 

 

The final round’s weighted vote totals are as follows:

  • Tara Waters: 812 (57.3%)
  • Jessica Day: 604 (42.7%)

Upcoming Meeting

We are hosting a special-called CEC meeting to nominate a candidate for the Wake County Board of Commissioners District 5 opening.

  • Digital doors open at 6:40pm.
  • Meeting begins at 7:00pm.
  • Pre-credentialing/registration is required before 5:00pm on Dec 5th.
  • This meeting is for Wake County Democratic Party CEC members and registered Democrats who would like to observe.

Pre-Declared Candidates for the Board of Commission District 5 Vacancy

The following individuals have declared their intent to run for the BoC District 5 vacancy. Each of them are Democrats registered to vote and residing within the BoC 5 boundaries.

WCDP has made every effort to connect with individuals interested in running to become our nominee. Candidates will have three (3) minutes total for nominations and remarks at the appropriate time during the meeting. Though not preferred, candidates may also come from the floor. Candidates may also submit a video in lieu of live remarks by 10pm on Sunday, December 03.

Meeting Notices

CEC Members will receive a registration and credential notice though their preferred opt-in method.

Please opt-in to receiving official notices through email to help Wake Dems save money and trees.

If you do not opt-in to email notices, you will receive a postcard at the address we have on file.

Meeting Registration

Pre-registration is REQUIRED

  • Observers must complete the registration form by 5:00pm Tuesday, December 5th.
  • Voting members must complete the registration form by 5:00pm Tuesday, December 5th.
  • There will be no exceptions.
  • If you are a CEC member but cannot attend, please send a proxy. Both you and your proxy must register by the above deadline.

Meeting Support Information

All Wake County CEC members are asked to attend this meeting to discuss and vote on important business for WCDP. CEC stands for County Executive Committee. The CEC is the governing body for the county Democratic Party.

Who’s on the CEC?

The CEC is comprised of

  • Chairs and Vice Chairs of each of the organized precincts in the district
  • Elected members of the county’s Executive Council
  • Representatives of the county chapters of state-wide auxiliaries
  • Members of the county’s delegation to the State Executive Committee
  • Officers of Congressional District executive committees (residing in the district)
  • The county party attorney (if the county has one and they live in the district)
