WCDP Election Central – Candidate Information
Davarus Gardner
Zebulon Town Commission
Candidate Statement:
I want to serve as a town commissioner because I care deeply about the future of Zebulon and the well-being of its residents. As our town grows, we need transparent, accountable leadership that makes smart decisions for all, not just a few. I’m committed to helping improve our infrastructure, expand economic opportunities, and support balanced development that makes Zebulon a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Issues:
Transparency
If elected, I will host a monthly sit-down with residents before each Town Commissioner meeting to hear concerns and share updates. I’ll stay accessible through email, social media, and community events. My goal is to ensure all voices, especially those often underrepresented, are included in the decision-making process to build a stronger, and more inclusive Zebulon.
Protecting the Environment
Municipalities must take a proactive role in preserving natural resources, especially as state and federal protections are rolled back. Our town should invest in improved stormwater infrastructure, preserve green spaces, and promote sustainable development to building long-term environmental resilience.
Fixing traffic congestion
One issue current town leadership isn’t addressing enough is traffic congestion due to growing compacity. Our roadways remain outdated and poorly optimized, leading to delays and frustration. There’s a clear need for smarter traffic flow planning, expanded public transit options, and infrastructure updates. Proactively managing growth with transportation in mind will improve quality of life and reduce long-term costs.
