WCDP Election Central – Candidate Information

Candidate Statement:
As a lifelong public servant, attorney, and now, a state legislator, I am committed to making North Carolina fairer, more affordable, and more accountable. I believe leadership means not only advancing good policy but also standing up to bad legislation that harms our families and undermines our basic rights.
I will stand up to special interests, protect public education and our basic freedoms, and work to make North Carolina fairer, more affordable, and more accountable to the people it serves.
Direct Quote:
"I believe government should work for the people it serves. My focus is on lowering costs for families, funding public schools, protecting healthcare, fighting back against bad legislation, securing intelligent and fair law enforcement, and ensuring our governmental systems are fair, safe, and accountable. I am grateful for the support so many have shown me throughout my time in the legislature, and I plan to continue to use my voice to fight the good fight."
Issues:
Affordability
Too many North Carolina families are being priced out of their homes, healthcare, childcare, and basic needs. I'm focused on lowering everyday costs, retaining Medicaid expansion, affordable and workforce housing, protecting consumers, and making sure wages keep up so people can afford to live where they work.
Opportunity
Opportunity should not depend on your zip code or your family's net worth. I support strong public schools, access to healthcare, workforce training tied to tangible jobs, and policies that help people build stable, fulfilling lives.
Accountability
Government should work for the people it serves-not big donors or interests. I will stand up to all forms of bad legislation, defend basic human rights, and insist on transparency, fairness, and responsible use of public resources so trust in government is well placed and well earned.
I am not afraid to fight against harmful Republican leadership in the state legislature.
