WCDP Election Central – Candidate Information

Candidate Statement:
With over 35 years of business leadership experience as a Raleigh native, I am committed to advancing effective governance, building public trust, strengthening educational opportunities, increasing access to quality healthcare, and maintaining affordability in North Carolina. Wake County is recognized for its natural beauty, academic excellence, and strong economy. My parents were public school teachers, and my wife is a teacher, so I know the importance of robust public education systems. Access to affordable, high-quality healthcare remains equally vital. My 30 years as a management consultant have focused on assisting healthcare leaders in optimizing hospital information systems to enhance patient care. I have served in volunteer leadership capacities in sports, scouting, faith-based groups, the Red Cross, and various nonprofit agencies.
Recent legislative decisions in N Carolina have emphasized personal interests over public service, reduced support for vulnerable populations, and contributed to division within our community. My candidacy reflects a commitment to ensuring that government serves all citizens equitably and supports the long-term well-being of our state.
Issues:
Restore Public Trust in Government
Government should serve everyone fairly. To honor the principles of democracy, we need transparent legislation with open discussion and collaborative decision-making that builds public trust.
Having a realistic budget is fundamental to serving all communities equitably. A fair financial plan should meet the needs of every resident, allocating resources in a way that supports strong schools, accessible healthcare, and economic opportunity
Independent redistricting is vital to end gerrymandering and ensure fair elections, empowering every voter and safeguarding representation.
Make North Carolina the 'Education State' Again
North Carolina was once recognized as tops in education. We need to make teacher and school staff pay nationally competitive. We need to provide more school counselors, nurses, social workers, and psychologists for better mental health support, and lower student-to-support-staff ratios. We must increase per student funding to meet these goals and monitor student performance to guide oversight and accountability.
We must support our students are they compete not only with other US states, but also the best students from around the world in the competitive global economy.
Protect Access to Healthcare
Every individual is entitled to access affordable, high-quality healthcare, including mental health services. It is essential to support rural hospitals and address the needs of citizens residing in counties without medical facilities. Efforts should be made to eliminate maternity deserts and ensure women have comprehensive reproductive healthcare, with healthcare decisions remaining between patients and their providers.
