WCDP Election Central – Candidate Information

Candidate Statement:
I am running for Wake County District Attorney because this moment demands a leader with broad perspective and principled judgment to ensure that the justice system works for everyone. I am committed to leading an office that the public can trust - an office that reflects our shared values and helps ensure Wake County remains a desirable place to live, work, and raise families.
Direct Quote:
"Every experience has led me here-to step up, to serve, to listen, and to build a justice system that reflects the best of who we are. Join me in building a system we can all trust-one that serves and strengthens our entire community."
Issues:
Public Safety
We will prioritize prosecution of offenses that most threaten our community - Create a dedicated Violent Crime Unit to handle shootings, aggravated assaults, robberies, and homicides. We will expand the Special Victims Unit to include elder abuse and exploitation cases and identify and assign high-priority cases early to ensure consistent handling and strong outcomes. Commit to effective justice reform that combines accountability measures with evidence-based treatment and ongoing support to address the root causes of criminal behavior, including substance abuse and mental health issues.
Transparency & Accountability
We will implement policies and practices to ensure transparency and accountability. Conduct periodic case reviews and calendar audits to monitor progress and efficacy. Commit to accountability for all, including public officials and others entrusted with power, by addressing abuses without fear or favor. We will Establish DA-Community and Youth Advisory Councils, to give community a voice in how justice is administered. We will ensure prosecutorial decisions and policy are informed by broad community perspectives.
Strengthen The Office of the DA
We will advocate for more resources and develop recruitment and retention strategies to support organizational growth, professional development of our legal and professional staff members for the sustainability and succession planning. Designate DA-Law Enforcement Liaisons as points of contact for each law enforcement agency in the County for case coordination, area-specific problem-solving, and collaboration, ensuring every jurisdiction has a consistent voice and is heard.
