Elections + Pre-Declared Candidates
In accordance with the NCDP Plan of Organization and WCDP Alternative Plan of Organization, when certain Party roles go vacant, the CEC is required to fill them via an election process. A vacancy in the WCDP Executive Officer leadership is an example.
Additionally, per NC laws and NCDP Bylaws, all or a portion of the WCDP CEC will be called upon to fill most partisan elected official vacancies affecting Wake County when a Democrat has vacated the seat. For example, if a Democrat vacates a seat on our Wake County Board of Commissioners or any NCGA seat, the CEC is responsible for electing a replacement or nominee to present to appropriate elected leadership for consideration or seating.
For this CEC meeting, there will 3 planned vacancy elections. Specific information about how those will be conducted, who is eligible to run, and who is eligible to vote are located in our Proposed Special Rules linked above.
